The paint and coatings industry is showing excellent growth for 1996. For the nine month year-to-date, shipments increased 12.9% to 1,049 million gallons with a value of $12,711 million, a 15.7% increase. Architectural coatings again continues to lead with a growth of 21.7% in quantity and a growth in value of 23.5% y-t-d.

For the third quarter, architectural coatings increased 23.9% in quantity and 24.0% in value.
