IBM Think Pad update

Continuing last month's adventures with IBM Think Pads, IBM did send us a redesigned RAM carrier and cover plate. Good news: This cured the 760 ED's instability problems. We still had to repair all the damaged files, which ultimately required reformatting the drive and reinstalling everything. This was made extra difficult because IBM doesn't supply discs of all the zillion files that come loaded on the machine.

Because we had two machines undergoing testing and repair, I rebuilt one, then cloned it to the other...sort of. Completely cloning a Windows 95 drive is impossible because open files, notably the registry database, can't be copied. My solution was to export the first machine's registry to a separate file, copy this file via LapLink to the other computer, then import it …
