Chicago-area job training program takes 'Craftsman.' (Minwax Co.Inc.'s 1994 Community Craftsman award given to Greater West Town Community Project)
Chicago--Minwax Co., Inc. presented its 1994 Community Craftsman [TM] award to Chicago's Greater West Town Community Development Project, which addresses the problem of unemployment through woodworking job training and retraining.
The project was honored in April, Minwax's designated National Woodworking Month. The company's Woodworking Training Program trains and places dislocated workers, low-income residents and unemployed youth while helping local businesses build a solid employee base.
The award consists of a $2,500 grant and a product donation to be used throughout the year. Minwax created the award …
