Solvents, resin products affected by global actions; July 1 price changes likely
New York -- Demand for raw materials continues to be unusually strong, and the encouraging news is that coatings manufacturers are not just buying raw materials for inventory in anticipation of price advances. If reports are on the button, coatings producers are converting raw materials into finished goods as fast as they can.
Inventory-building, however, may start up soon, side-by-side with production of finished goods. The reason: global developments, as well as domestic trends, are putting pressure on the prices of several key raw materials and their derivatives.
