Talisman Energy Inc. is drilling horizontal oil wells and directional gas wells like crazy in Western Canada.
What's more, through a pending acquisition of Bow Valley Energy Inc., Talisman is likely to become the third-largest gas producer in that country.
And as if that weren't enough, the Calgary, Alberta-based company, which was spun off as a separate entity by British Petroleum Co. several years ago, will launch into the international arena through the C$1.8 billion (about US$1.3 billion) buyout of Bow Valley, which has oil and gas projects in the North Sea and Southeast Asia.
