The Energy Dept. is opening up its Naval Petroleum Reserve No. 3 (Teapot Dome) oil field in Wyoming to industry for testing new production technologies.

DOE is making the offer through its new Rocky Mountain Oilfield Testing Center with an eye on increasing production, lowering operating costs and finding better ways to protect the environment.

The center currently is in the implementation phase, and is expected to be up and running this fall with a fiscal year 1995 budget in the $2.5-$5 million range.

Officials at Teapot Dome say the arrangement is being made as easy as possible for industry technologists' participation.
