Successful Derma Sciences dressing moves to podiatry market. (Derma Sciences Inc.)
Old Forge, Pa.-based Derma Sciences is breaking into the podiatry market with the company's zinc-saline wet dressing, a product now being used in the treatment of leg ulcers. Derma Sciences will continue to promote the dressing as an improvement over using normal saline dressings to facilitate healing of leg ulcers.
The dressing has been on the market since January, but has only recently received Food & Drug Admin. approval to market the dressing for podiatry. Derma Sciences sent sample packages of its zinc-saline wet dressing to 5,000 podiatrists as part of the company's attempt to break into the podiatry market.
