Owens and Minor joins Baxter as distributor to Premier hospitals. (Baxter Hospital Supply; Premier Hospitals Alliance)
Baxter Hospital Supply, Deerfield, Ill., once the sole-source distributor for Premier Hospitals Alliance, Westchester, Ill., faces a cut in sales as Premier's distribution program goes dual-source with the award of a five-year agreement in June to Owens & Minor, Richmond, Va. This is Premier's first contract with Owens & Minor and becomes effective Aug. 1.
Cutting Baxter's business is consistent with Premier's April decision to decrease business with the company by as much as $50 million in the next 12 months in response to Baxter's March 25 guilty plea of violating U.S. laws against the boycott of Israel.
