Real Time Process Management Solutions - that's the new buzz phrase coming out of the Fisher/Rosemount merger (C&I, October 1992, page 12). Whilst the phrase spells out the new group's system acronym, RTM/1, it's also what most clued-up observers have for some time been perceiving as the next step beyond DCS.

It's all about computer integrated manufacturing (CIM), but at all levels.
