FileMaker Pro 2.0 for Windows, from Claris Corp., is yet another low-end database management system for Windows, joining ranks with AceFile, Approach, and ObjectVision. Although FileMaker is aimed at the same class of users as these other products, it has some compelling advantages.

Where FileMaker Pro came from

Claris is a software development spin-off of Apple Computer that has traditionally developed and marketed Macintosh software.

FileMaker Pro 2.0 is an upgrade to Claris' Macintosh database management program. They're simultaneously releasing versions for both the Mac and Windows.

New features

While the new FileMaker Pro works nearly identically to version 1.0, among the new features Claris has added more powerful scripting, multimedia capabilities, more graphics formats, and support for System 7 on the Mac.
