Sharpest drop was in Chapter 11 corporate reorganization; Chapter 13 personal cases, noncorporations held steady
The total number of bankruptcies filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Puerto Rico during the first month of 1992 dropped compared to the same period in 1991.
According to Litza Cardona, the court's chief deputy clerk, a total of 612 bankruptcies were filed in January, or 5% less than the 644 bankruptcies filed during the same month in 1991. In January 1991, the total grew 42% compared to the same month in 1990.
