Computer, telecommunications firms unite
Developments and advances in the computer and telecommunications fields during 1991 have reinforced the trend of both industries working closely together as technology advances.
In the telecommunications industry, there were mergers, acquisitions, new faces and significant growth. In November 1991, one such acquisition starred St. Thomas San Juan Overseas Telephone Co. (STSJ) and Puerto Rico TeleCom. STSJ executives announced late last year that the company had agreed to purchase the bulk operating assets of Puerto Rico TeleCom, which included its customer access lines and switching facilities.
