Puerto Rico Export Co. Inc. offers international warehousing

Within a few weeks, Puerto Rico Export Co. Inc. (Prexco) will become the first public warehouse in Puerto Rico which will be allowed to receive alcoholic beverages from an importer and can then ship the liquor anyplace, including back to the importer.

After nine months of work petitioning, Prexco believes it will soon have Hacienda's permit to begin this type of public warehouse service.

"That will put us in a position so that we can serve ships chandlers," said Ruben Oscar Bras, vice president of Prexco. "Tour ships will be able to buy liquor here cheaper than in either St. Thomas or …
