Northwest Airlines considers S.J. service

Officials from the Puerto Rico Ports Authority and the Tourism Company have begun negotiations with executives of Northwest Airlines in order to persuade the passenger carrier to begin serving Puerto Rico.

"We have had several meetings with a group of representatives from Northwest Airlines in Washington, D.C. over the past few months," said Jose A. Buitrago, executive director of the Ports Authority, adding that it is too early in the negotiations to release specifics as to which routes the airline would service.
