Is it possible to know too much?

Looking at how quickly my hard drive fills up, it seems like it is.

Where does all of the information come from? Lately, more and more of it seems to come from CompuServe. Keeping old, tattered threads?

There's so much valuable stuff on my hard drive that there's nothing to discard. Besides, the stuff cost me money to accumulate, so it would be wasteful to throw it away. The trick is to get the most use out of it. If you've just started using TAPCIS, I'm sure you've noticed that trying to follow the conversations can be frustrating. The new messages are appended to the end of each Forum's MSG file, regardless of the fact that they refer to messages sent 14 sessions ago. This quickly leads to a computerized bedlam of unrelated responses.

One of the best things you can do to combat untidy threads is to use TAPORDER. This handy shareware utility from GRIMS Associates sorts your messages into continuous threads for you to view with TAPCIS. But that's not all. It also:

* Removes duplicate messages

* Updates the number-of-replies for each message
