Their idea is to fight greenhouse gases with dust

The words conjure up apocalyptic visions of flooded coastlines, powerful storms, even famine - billions of dollars in damages caused by pollution-induced overheating of the atmosphere.
Then again, there are others who claim the whole concept of the greenhouse effect is a bunch of eco baloney.
But, if there is a greenhouse effect and if it's doing the terrible things some people fear, two Orange County inventors could be coming to the rescue. They believe they have found a way to counter the greenhouse effect, without requiring billions of dollars in economic and lifestyle changes.
David B. Chang of Tustin and I-Fu Shih of Los Alamitos, who both work for Hughes Aircraft Co. in Manhattan Beach, received a patent last month for a controversial method to seed a portion of the atmosphere with certain types of dust particles. These particles would screen out radiation from the sun while allowing heat from the earth's surface to pass through.
