Cellular One receives FCC certification
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) recently authorized Cellular Communications of Puerto Rico Inc. to compete in the local market. Cellular Communications, which operates in Puerto Rico as Cellular One, was previously granted permission to serve the island partially and began offering a more ample range of services last month. However, plans for penetrating the Puerto Rico market on a wider scale are scheduled for completion by 1992. According to William W. King Jr., Cellular Communications president, the company will have spent more than $150 million in equipment and facilities by next year.
