President and CEO, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries
Eli Hurvitz has served as president and chief executive officer of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries since 1976, after eight years as the company's general manager. But Hurvitz, 59, was not always a member of the upper echelons of management. He began his career in 1953 with Assia Chemical Laboratories (now a Teva subsidiary), working part-time as a dishwasher while completing his bachelor's degree in economics at Tel Aviv University; he has been with the company ever since.
