Arcelays press suit over land re-acquisition

The Arcelay Cabinero family, original owners of the White Star Bus Line and the land where that public transportation company once operated in Hato Rey, filed a lawsuit against various Commonwealth government agencies for breach of contract and allegedly denying their preferential right to buy the 50,000- square-meter land back.

In 1943, at the request of the Commonwealth government, a Federal District Court ordered White Star Bus Line to sell all the property to the Commonwealth. According to the lawsuit, filed last week in the San Juan Superior Court, Law 12 of 1975 specifically requires that if the government …
