Superconductivity Applications

Pure magnesium oxide (MgO) wafers are being produced in close cooperation by two Israeli firms. Dead Sea Periclase extracts MgO from Dead Sea brines for a variety of industrial and chemical applications; Xsirius Superconductivity is a Jerusalem-based R&D organization aimed mainly at commercially viable applications of high temperature superconductivity. Not long ago, the two firms found that they share a common interest: superconductors can be deposited advantageously on high purity MgO wafers.
