INSTRUMENTATION
First unveiled at the 1988 meeting of the International Society for Bioengineering and the Skin, the Rheometer (made by Dia-Strom Ltd., Surrey, England) was developed as an inexpensive, compact replacement for large tensile-strength instruments such as the Instron. It has specially designed fittings for hair and skin, and is suitable for operation in environmental chambers. Through use of tabs for attachment to the skin, it can even be utilized for in vivo work.
