IBM'S NEXT GENERATION OF PROCESSORS

It was hardly a modest announcement. IBM invited hundreds of reporters to join its top executives and 2,500 dealers at the Miami Convention Center via a live telecast. Amid music and flashing lights, Big Blue introduced its Personal System/2 line.

IBM sported a line of sleek, flashy computers that impressed most on-lookers. And IBM prided itself on developing many of the system's components, seen by industry analysts as a move to discourage copycats.
