Varian, Inc. (3120 Hansen Way, Palo Alto, CA 94304; Tel: 650/213- 8000) has unveiled its next generation of compact gas chromatography (GC) instruments with the debut of the CP-4900 Micro-GC. Measuring 15 cm by 30 cm (5.9" by 11.8"), the CP-4900 features one-to-four plug-and-play GC channels, each a separate GC with pneumatics, injector, column and detector, enabling the user to generate data 10 to 50 times faster than conventional GCs. A rugged design allows the user to analyze gas mixtures in the lab, the field, or wherever critical information is needed.
