Gaylord Container Corp., Deerfield, Ill., reached an agreement in principle to settle all litigation resulting from an accidental rail tank car explosion in Bogalusa, La., in October 1995 that resulted in injuries and shut down the company's containerboard mill for two days. More than 160 lawsuits in the case had been filed at one point, and a class-action trial in Louisiana, condensed from 16,592 claims filed, was to begin next month.
