Voice control is considered essential as technology for traveler information systems. Motorola, Inc. (1303 E. Algonquin Rd., Motorola Center, Schaumburg, IL 60196; Tel: 847/523-6665) announced that Motorola Japan, Ltd. (20-1, Minami-Azabu 3-chome Minato-ku, Tokyo; Tel: 813/3280 8515; Email: R44140@motorola.com, Website: www.ntts.co.jp) signed a Memorandum of Under standing (MOU) with NTT Software Corp. (223-1, Yamashita cho Naka-ku Yokohama-shi, Kanagawa) to develop and pro vide the company's "Voice Internet Platform" to Japan. The platform will provide voice accessibility to services currently available in Internet environments. Services such as traffic information, weather reports, and stock quotes will be available.
As a part of the MOU, Motorola will provide its Mya Voice Platform products, which are VoiceXML standard compliant and currently in development in six languages other than Japanese.
