Scientists at Symyx Technologies, Inc. (Santa Clara, CA), have developed a multiplexed capillary electrophoresis system with cooling sufficient to prevent overheating during chiral separation. They have been granted U.S. Patent 6,544,396 (April 8, 2002) for their efforts.

The CE system allows for chiral separation at higher throughput. A cooling apparatus sufficient to prevent overheating of the capillary tubes and contents is described.

The system includes a bundle of capillary tubes having inlet end portions spaced apart for loading fluid samples to be analyzed into the tubes, outlet end portions for the exit of the fluid samples from the tubes, and …
