50.2 September's CIPS/Reuters Purchasing Managers' Index remained above the 50.0 no change mark for the second month running. The PMI measured 50.2 in September. down from 51.0 in August, but still up from 49.1 in July. Although the rate of expansion signalled in September was the weakest during six months of growth, Uk manufacturing firms reported that they had managed to sustain the strong expansion of output that was reported in August. The seasonally adjusted New Orders Index recorded a level of 52.0, up from 51.3 in August Panel firms also reported a further boost to demand from abroad in September.
