Cubic Transportation Systems (9333 Balboa Ave., San Diego, CA 92123; Tel: 858/505-2378; Email: Kelly.Williams@cubic.com, Website: cubic.com) received a $26 million contract from the San Diego Metropolitan Transit Development Board (MTDB) and the North County Transit District (NCTD). Under the contract, Cubic will create a regional smart card-based automatic fare-collection system for the county's buses, trolleys, Coaster Commuter Rail, and future expansion of the light-rail system. Riders can use the card to pay for all modes of transportation.
