For the past decade, two primary electronic toll collection (ETC) technologies have battled for market share--while discussing the need for "interoperability." Drivers, particularly truckers, have balked at the idea of multiple transponders (and bills). In response, Mark IV (6020 Amber Dr., Mississauga, Ontario, Canada L4W 2P1; Tel: 905/624-3025, Fax: 905/624-4572; Website: mark-iv.com) introduced a transponder, called Ubiquity.
