Researchers at the University of Cincinnati (Dept. of Chemistry, Crossley 200, P.O. Box 210172, Cincinnati, OH 45221; Tel: 513/556- 9216) have discovered that using a chiral auxiliary agent in the buffer aids continuous free-flow electrophoresis (CFFE), a multi- component separation process gaining in popularity. The discovery addresses a critical need for the development of preparative chiral separations, speeding up the process for obtaining pure enantiomers of chiral drugs from aqueous solutions.
