A survey of 2,008 patients with diabetes found that 68% do not consider cardiovascular disease to be a serious complication of diabetes, and about half had never discussed cardiovascular risk factors with their physicians.

The good news of the survey, commissioned by the American Diabetes Association and the American College of Cardiology, was that most people with diabetes see their physicians regularly--five times per year, on average.
