NIT League Approves Carrier Members: Members of the National Industrial Transportation League have voted to admit carriers to full membership for the first time in the league's 95-year history. NITL President Ed Emmett said the "Vision 2020" reorganization won by a 3-1 margin among companies that voted. He said the restructuring allows the league to "become much more visible in a whole range of issues that affect the daily business lives of all parts of the freight transportation industry." Emmett said the league's role as a shippers' advocate has been diminished by deregulation and the blurring of lines between shippers and carriers as the companies broaden the scope of supply-chain services.
