There's a major merger happening in the aquatics world right now that's got a lot of people, myself included, pretty excited. It's not the kind of merger you read about on the financial pages. Or that you can put a specific dollar figure on. But it has the potential to not only reshape the way you think about aquatics, but also the entire industry. It's the merger of waterparks with hotels and resorts.

If that sounds like hyperbole, consider the numbers. In 2002, there were less than 50 waterpark resorts. Two years later, that number is approaching 80. Many, many more are in the planning stages.

If you think about it, the merging of the two industries makes perfect sense. Just as aquatics ...
