SACRAMENTO, Calif. _ U.S. sprinter Mickey Grimes, who lost a 2003 Pan American Games gold medal after testing positive for a banned stimulant, has tested positive this year for a banned anabolic steroid, according to sources familiar with the case.

Grimes was found positive for norandrosterone in out-of-competition testing by the international track federation (IAAF) May 25 in Los Angeles.

Another U.S. athlete, hurdler Larry Wade, also tested positive for norandrosterone, the Chicago Tribune reported Thursday.

Both face a two-year ban if found guilty of a doping violation.
