Nov. 8--'CLOSER' EXPECTED TO BREAK EVEN SOON: By the new year, Rodney Mayo expects his West Palm Beach culture magazine, Closer, to break-even for the first time.
Once it does, Mayo said he plans to launch an edition of the monthly in New York City. Closer will circulate for free in Manhattan and West Palm, and feature the same cover and features about politics and fashion.
Mayo said he's lined up national advertisers -- he declined to disclose who they are -- who have agreed to buy promos in both editions.
The two cities are "a good match for a lot of advertisers," he said.
