MIAMI _ Dave Wannstedt told his players Saturday to forget about the offseason, to get over the shock of Ricky Williams retiring, to use the first day of training camp practices to focus on the road ahead instead of staring into the rear-view mirror.
"It's the start of a new season," Wannstedt announced. "The motivation is to win the division."
Expectations and goals are no different for the 2004 Dolphins than most years, even though the offseason posed serious questions and offered few concrete answers. The running back and featured offensive star has retired, the quarterback job is unsettled, the offensive line is brand new and in flux. Even the defense has to answer some concerns.
"There are questions," quarterback Jay Fiedler said. "But there are questions for every team this time of year."
Wannstedt admitted "things are unsettled." But added in his usual optimistic spin, that it's a "good unsettling."
So the Dolphins are facing challenges and calling them opportunities.
