ORLANDO, Fla. _ It's official. Jearl Miles-Clark is a five-time Olympian.
It took a clarification by the U.S. Olympic Committee to grant Miles-Clark that special status.
The Gainesville native (Buchholz High School) was selected to the relay pool for the 4 x 400 meters for the 1988 Seoul Games, although she did not compete.
The USOC ruled pool selection made her an Olympian. She competed at Barcelona, Atlanta and Sydney, earning two gold medals and a silver medal on relay teams. Last month, she won the 800 meters at the U.S. trials to qualify for Athens.
