ORLANDO, Fla. _ Several hours before Greg Maddux defeated the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night for his 299th career victory, Dusty Baker spoke with the weight of someone who's seen this particular episode of history repeat itself nine times.
"This has been the quietest approaching of 300 I have ever seen," the Chicago Cubs manager told reporters. "Maybe it's because of the way he is. I know that when Roger Clemens was approaching 300 last year in New York, that was big headlines every day."
