Nov. 23--Krispy Kreme Doughnuts Inc. reported yesterday a 56 percent increase in third-quarter profit compared with the same period last year as the company opened more stores and increased sales.

Krispy Kreme also increased its fiscal-year profit forecast for the fourth time this year. For the full year, it expects to earn 65 cents a share, up from its projection in August of 64 cents.

Early in the quarter, sales were hurt by hot weather, the company said. But sales bounced back as the weather cooled and because of solid demand for its new coffee blends that were introduced during the quarter.
