CHICAGO _ U.S. sprinter Mickey Grimes formally has been charged with his second doping violation.

International track federation (IAAF) spokesman Nick Davies confirmed Thursday the second part, or "B" sample, of Grimes' May out-of-competition doping control corroborated the "A" positive for the steroid norandrosterone.

Unless Grimes appeals successfully, he faces a two-to-three-year suspension after also having tested positive for the stimulant ephedrine at the 2003 Pan American Games. That positive cost Grimes his gold medals in the 100 meters and sprint relay.
