Jul. 9--LifeBridge Christian Church's plans to build a controversial megachurch in southwest Weld were approved Wednesday by Weld County commissioners, who said the development would become an asset to the entire Front Range. Commissioners unanimously voted to rezone the 313-acre plot from agriculture to a mix of uses, ranging from residential to commercial, after a six-hour hearing Wednesday and a 10-hour hearing in May.

The planning commission also held a day-long hearing on the project in April. The commissioner representing southwest Weld, Glenn Vaad, didn't participate in the process because he is an elder at LifeBridge.
