Jul. 19--AUSTIN, Texas--About a dozen environmentalists protested outside PC maker Dell's annual meeting here Friday morning -- with a few donning gas masks and biohazard suits and holding signs criticizing Dell's recycling efforts.
"We want Dell to take back their computers," said Robin Schneider of the Texas Campaign for the Environment. "What they are doing so far is mostly public relations, and we need real solutions."
That's absolutely not true, said Dell spokeswoman Pat Nathan. The activists, she said, misrepresent Dell's record and ignore the company's substantial contribution to computer recycling.
