Jul. 27--GAS PRICES DECLINE BUT MAY GO UP SOON: SANTA BARBARA, Calif. -- Gasoline prices have dropped over the past eight weeks in Santa Barbara County since hitting a record high in May, but signs show that trend may soon change. Stubbornly high prices in the wholesale market could bring an end to the eight-week slide in pump prices, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California.

Regular unleaded gas averaged $2.36 a gallon last week in Santa Barbara County, or 2 cents below the average from the prior week. The county's average gas price hit a record high on …
