On August 30, Lifetime Doors Inc. informed the Antitrust Division that it did not think that the Division's August 3, 2001 Proposed Final Judgment to resolve antitrust concerns around Premdor's acquisition of Masonite Corp. would really do much to prevent competitive harm to the wood door industry.

Lifetime Doors urged the Justice Dept. to rescind the settlement and block Premdor's acquisition of Masonite's doorskin business because the Final Judgment did not guarantee a viable buyer for the divested assets (Towanda, Pennsylvania facility) that would continue to create the exact same line of products as was available before the companies merged.
