Former Financial Chiefs for WorldCom, Enron Have Much in Common.
Jun. 28--WorldCom isn't Enron, but at both companies remarkably similar men held identical executive positions and oversaw suspect accounting that has pushed their employers to the brink of extinction.
Former WorldCom Chief Financial Officer Scott Sullivan and former Enron Chief Financial Officer Andrew Fastow are at the center of accounting problems at the two firms.
Both are regarded as brilliant in the field of finance. Both are 40 and extremely wealthy. Both were fired after they were accused of deceptive accounting.
Andersen, the former auditor for WorldCom and Enron, says Sullivan withheld "important information" from its accountants.
