Aug. 14--The wine grapes seem to be in a hurry this year.
Like a lot of other crops, the grapes are ripening very early, and harvest has begun in some parts of the state.
It has something to do with the weather, but between global warming, unseasonable coolness, droughts, ni[+ or -]os and ni[+ or -]as, I can't make heads or tails of it.
For local amateur winemakers, however, the early harvest means it's time to get ready for the 2004 vintage.
