Inhaled insulin maintains control of plasma glucose as well as injected insulin, with no diminution of effectiveness after 2 years, Dr. William H. Landschulz said at a meeting sponsored by the Diabetes Research Institute.
Dr. Landschulz of Pfizer Inc., New London, Conn., unveiled the 2-year data on the use of inhaled insulin from patients who were initially enrolled in a 12-week trial and were then allowed to continue using inhaled insulin. Patients used inhaled insulin with meals, three times a day, and injected ultralente insulin for overnight insulin coverage.
