Playtex Apparel to Move Headquarters from Connecticut to Winston-Salem, N.C.

Jan. 10--Playtex Apparel Inc., a unit of Sara Lee Intimate Apparel, is moving its headquarters from Stamford, Conn., to Winston-Salem, where Playtex's Bali Intimates and Hanes Her Way Intimates are based.
The move will create about 300 jobs in North Carolina.
Sara Lee Intimate Apparel said yesterday that it is consolidating the offices of the three intimate-apparel units into one place to strengthen its competitive position by taking advantage of "synergies" across product lines.
The consolidation will add 40 positions in Winston-Salem to support the Playtex business, but eliminate about 50 jobs in Stamford.
