Apr. 10--UPLAND, Calif.--City officials say Chick's Sporting Goods won't close its Foothill Boulevard store when it opens a new one in the Colonies Crossroads retail project in October 2003.

Mayor John "JP" Pomierski and City Manager G. Michael Milhiser both said Tuesday that they had been told Chick's, which operates nine stories and one outlet store in Southern California, would convert its existing store at 121 E. Foothill Blvd. into a second outlet store. Chick's President Jim Chick and General Manager Larry Lucas could not be reached for confirmation Tuesday, but Pomierski said it was a done deal.
