May 2--San Diego police Officer Gregory Wright was having a hard time doing his banking yesterday, trying to keep his two young sons in line while he was filling out a deposit receipt.
But Wright was pleased, at least, to have found a bank near his home -- a Washington Mutual branch that opened this week in the Mountain View neighborhood of San Diego, a working-class area at the southeastern fringe of the city.
"I'm glad they're in the community and that I don't have to drive to some place far away," Wright said. "The situation has been pretty bad here. It would be nice to see other banks moving in to help build the community."
